I am back in Boston everybody. Yesterday turned out to not be my day for traveling, it was a bit rough. First off my flight was really early (well the flight itself not TOO early, but the time it required me to be up and leaving for the airport was obscene by break standards)
The first leg of the trip was fine and uneventful from Phoenix to Houston, I even slept a little so it seemed real quick. Landing in Houston I was supposed to have an hour and a half lay over, so I went to a bar, got a chicken sadnwhich and something I don't get often, a beer (Sam Adams, real good too).
After lunch, what do I see on the departure board? Oh, my flight is delayed until 3:30. Two more hours of me in Texas. Then later my mom and I had been talking, she was checking why my flight was delayed, and it was weather in Boston, and she just casually asked, so you're leaving at 5:40? Without realizing my flight had once again been delayed til then. We were on a ground hold because of the weather in Boston, but fortunately they lifted it around 4:40, so we were off the ground around 5:10 or so.
Loading that plane was hilarious. It was an oddly small plane, it didn't have any TV's (odd on a four hour long flight) and the overhead space seemed really small to me, I barely got my bag in it. And then I got one of the last spots overhead with still half the plane getting on. Those tired, delayed people were not letting it go without a fight, and it was just kind of amusing seeing how grumpy they were.
I watched some movies, I read listened to music, so I can't complain TOO much about yesterday, but I hate traveling. It is stressful and just unpleasant. After we landed it took about a half hour for our bags to start coming out, and then I got to the Taxi stand and there was an enormous line, but the silver lining, the woman in front of me asked where I was going, and she lives a block from me, so we shared a cab (half cost for me!) and bitched about traveling the ride there.
The weather was intense. I was so excited to come back to it snowing, but I didn't realize how much snow. The roads hadn't been plowed yet when we were driving to my apartment and I was actually concerned a few times because they were in such bad condition. It was such a beautiful site once I got back though, to see our street covered in snow and it was still snowing.
Big day yesterday for two other reasons. Reason number one is Julia Fincher running the half marathon! Congrats girl! And good time, really! This means next time a new york race comes up, we are doing it ;)
Also the cardinals, going to the super bowl! I'm not one to care about sports, but I am one to see Arizona getting it's moment in the national spotlight. So that is really cool. I have to imagine Taylor and Dad got quite the game yesterday.
So as for me, I'm just prepping for the start of the semester today. I'm dreading going to the grocery store, since there is so much snow everywhere! But it must be done, I have almost no food in this apartment. And otherwise, I am just getting back into Bosotn mode. I didn't do a good job of trying to switch my body timer last night, Colleen came over for a brief bit and then Ross and I were talking pretty late, and then I slept in really late, so I think tomorrow's 7 am wake up call (which will feel like 5) will not be welcome.
I'm sad to leave home because I miss all yall from there, but I am happy to be back in Boston, and really happy to have my room back. I might even get a good hand on some of my pictures here in a little bit!
Love to all!
