Opening Night

Tonight is the opening for Best Little Whorehouse, and I am more excited than I have been in an awfully long time to open a show. This show is so much fun, and such a blast to perform, and the final dress went really well, I think it is going to be a clean (as in it looks polished, lord knows the substance isn't clean) and funny show, and I bet we'll get the final burst of energy we need when we see the Majestic full of people tonight.

I'm taking it a bit easy today, I'm going to work, and then I'm passing on ballet so I can come home and get my life a bit more together before I leave to get ready for the show!

Okay, that's all the time I ahve.

The Middle of the Weekend

So day 1 of tech is over and done. Tech rehearsals last all day so we get there as early sometimes as ten and can be called till 11. We were let go at 10:30 last night which was nice, because it's a serious brain drain standing around for hours on end kind of doing nothing and then all of a sudden the show moves forward real quickly catching you off guard, only to stop again. And being mentally invested in the show for twelve hours aint no easy task.

I also don't understand how most of the cast was wanting to go out last night. After tech all I wanted to do was come home and go to bed. But then again, I (following in the brother's footsteps) am an old man and would much rather sleep than socialize nine times out of ten. But I'm glad I slept because I woke up early today refreshed and now I'm going to go for a run. Not yet as warm as I would LIKE but I guess I can't have the world.

The real reason I wanted to post is because I just changed my facebook picture, and I was scrolling through all the pictures I have on my computer and it did a little mind trip to me. This year has gone by SO fast! I feel like each year goes by faster than the one before it, and this one has just zipped by.

My photo library serves as a sort of scrap book for check points in the year. So it start with all these pictures from the summer, both in New York and then when I got back to Boston. Then I have pictures from when it was turning to fall, which I completely forgot I had taken, then Thanksgiving, Christmas break, getting the new ink, the last show I was in. It is REALLY kind of crazy thinking about all these things because they seem to have collectively happened just yesterday.

I have one more week of rehearsal for this show, and then we perform next weekend, and then...I have my last week of classes ever at Emerson College. It is coming up so fast, I didn't even realize it. One teacher made a comment recently about having only two weeks left and it pulled the rug out from under my feet, and now that I'm allowing myself to reflect on it, I'm really kind of getting sad that I'm so near the end. Still excited as hell for the summer, but this transition will be very emotional I can tell.

This week I'm very excited to see Whorehouse up and on it's feet and in costume. The theatre is amazing, the set is wonderful the lights are great, I want my costume and orchestra and then we will be raring to go. I think people are really going to like the show. It's not heavy, it's not brilliant, it is the biggest spectacle show I have ever done, and people I htink are going to eat it up. As one cast member said, this show is a big "you're welcome" to the audience.

And mom and dad are going to be coming in to see it, and David is coming up on friday night too, so it's going to be one great big celebration in my life!

Well that's it from me, I'm going to go run, I want to get a run in and have enough time to make me some eggs before rehearsal.

I am so tired right now I actually feel like a zombie. A ballet class, a run, weight lifting, and then a full run of a show is apparently too much physical activity for one day, or maybe just enough, I am going to sleep like a baby tonight!

So the weather forcast has said all week that tomorrow we are supposed to get up to 70 degrees. All I want is to wear shorts and flip flops. I decided today that no matter what happens, when I get up tomorrow, flip flops are going on my feet. I don't care if it turns out to be 30 degrees, my feet are sick and tired of hiding inside uncomfortable close toed shoes. And I really hope I get to wear shorts.

Tomorrow should be a good day, a lot going on for the front half of it, but tomorrow night I'll get the breath I need to launch into this weekend (tech!)

I'll probably keep my computer on me this weekend so I can do a good long post from rehearsal.

Graduation

So yesterday was the first day that we could pick up all of our stuff for graduation weekend. I didn't know this until one of my friends showed up with everything, and then I got extremely excited. This saturday starts the one month count down until I cross the stage of the Wang Theatre and get a college diploma, I am ready for it.

And even more so, I am really excited for the week leading up to graduation. We are going to be in rehearsal for our showcase, but that will be it. No homework, no school, nothing else but rehearsal. So the Musical Theatre and Acting kids are going to get to hang out a lot, have a lot of fun celebrating commencement, and then at the end of the week my family and David are coming in and we get to celebrate together, it's all just going to be very celebratory.

I knwo when the time comes I'll be much more sad about the fact that I'm leaving college, but right now, I feel level headed and excited, I mean I'm going to see everyone I want to from school in a matter of months when I move to the city (we pretty much all are, and some will still be in Boston for a while after graduation, so no goodbyes now) and there are people I want to say goodbye to who I might be able to now, so a win on all sides!

Getting as much rest as I have this last weekend, and last night (didn't have rehearsal so I totally pulled a 10 o'clock bed time) has been really good for me. I feel recharged, and like I want to be productive, and I'm ready for rehearsal, not dreading how late it gets out.

Okey dokey, I knew this would be a quick post, I'm actually Taylor going to try and start posting much more frequently with quick updates and thoughts, I've been thinking about a re vamp, because I really like how you talk about things beyond yourself in your blog, somehting I...don't really do, not that I have to it is MY blog after all, but I think I'd like to start on other mind engaging topics, and I'm pretty sure I have stuff to say that most people I know read this are unaware of, so look for it...possibly tomorrow! Though maybe not, it will be a very busy day.

So I am finally getting around to updating! Lots has been going on, life has been a little hectic, but I will try and keep this as brief as possible, since evidently someone who shall remain nameless (Taylor) has a problem with the length of my posts. Though it's really more a matter of the frequency of my posts, I g so long without updating that I have too much to say.

Well today is Easter Sunday, which has put me in a strange mood. Every year since I went to college this holiday has been one of great conflict for me, mostly because it feels like the major holiday that I never get to spend with my family. That might be exaggerating because I don't get to go home for more holidays than I do but this one feels different and I can't help but feel a little sad that I'm not able to be home today.

I don't even know what it is I miss about this holiday, I'm pretty sure we are past easter egg hunts, I'm still going to church later on today, but usually we'd have a big family brunch or something to celebrate the day, and I miss that. I actually woke up feeling very isolated and lonely just because the idea of celebrating a holiday by oneself seems really depressing.

I turned on the TV really hoping that one of the easter specials like the Easter Bunny is Coming would be on ABC family, but from the looks of things there aren't really any Easter specials on today, weird.

I also recognize that I am quickly approaching a moment of mass nostalgia that is going to take over this blog within the next month. As most people know I have a tendency to get extremely nostalgic at random moments throughout the year, today is just such a day (I'm randomly thinking a lot about Christmas today) and then I'm about to graduate in the next month.

I have already started to have episodes where I get really sad thinking about school ending, not because I don't want school to end, but because how fast the last four years have flown by me. Thinking about freshman year gives me such a trip.

Just to wrap this up a quick update on my life, I'm in ful blown senior year mode, SO many class things going on at once that I'm having trouble balancing it all, and then I have rehearsals for Best Little Whorehouse going on. I think the show is going to be a lot of fun, and people are going to really enjoy it, though we can't exactly call the piece brilliant. I'm really excited my parents will be out here to see the show and so will David (hopefully!)
